Technology & Working Memory
I am interested in the role of technology on working memory.
Here is what you will be asked to do:
MEMORY TEST
-
Find out how much you can remember with 2 different games using
letters and shapes.

Please set aside 20-30 minutes of uninterrupted time as you will not
be able to pause or stop the Memory Games.

Please do the Memory Games alone.
QUESTIONNAIRE
After you complete the Memory Games, please complete the questionnaire.

ATTENTION TEST
You will be directed a different website for the final online test.

Computer Requirements: can your computer run these tests?
Firstly, to check that your computer can open up the test:
- Mozilla Firefox users, please select Tools -> Options, then click "Content"
and check that "Block popup windows" is not ticked.

Internet Explorer users, select Tools then Internet options, then click "Privacy" and
check that "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" is not ticked.
At the end of the memory test you can reset the pop-ups by ticking "block pop-ups" again
Secondly, to run these tests you need Javascript and Cookies enabled.
The green writing below shows if these are up and running on your computer:
- Javascript:

If all the items above say "OK" next to them, then you are ready to
start the test. Click on the "Start on-line memory test" link below to proceed and you will
see the Memory games opening in a new window. Please do not close this page when you start the test.
If "Javascript" or "Cookies" have an "X" next to them,
please follow the instructions below.
Whilst we do not foresee any problems, please only make the following changes if you feel comfortable doing so:
If "Javascript" has a "X" next to it:
A) For Internet Explorer:-
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click
the Security tab.
- Click the Internet zone.
- Click the Default Level button. Then click OK to save
the changes and refresh page.
B) For Mozilla Firefox:-
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Content tab, click to select the Enable JavaScript check box.
- Click the Go back one page button to return to the previous page,
and then click the Reload current page button to run scripts.
If "Cookies" has a "X" next to it:
A) For Internet Explorer:-
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Privacy tab.
- Under the Settings section click the Default Level button. Then click OK to save
the changes and refresh page.
B) For Mozilla Firefox :-
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Privacy tab, in the cookies section tick Accept cookies from sites.
- Click the Go back one page button to return to the previous page, and then
click the Reload current page button to run scripts.
